At about 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 14, officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash in the 500 block of Smith Ridge Road, according to the New Canaan Police Department.
Police said Igor Jureczko, of Shelton, had been driving a vehicle north on Smith Ridge Road, and he had swerved the vehicle within the travel lane and attempted to pass a vehicle on both sides.
His vehicle was also seen following closely behind another vehicle and driving onto the shoulder and grass before crashing into the back of a vehicle that had pulled off the roadway to make a phone call, authorities reported.
After striking the parked vehicle, Jureczko's engine caught fire, and responding officers extinguished it.
The occupants of the parked vehicle were taken to the emergency room to be evaluated, police said.
Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for Jureczko for charges of first-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving, authorities said.
He surrendered himself to New Canaan Police on the arrest warrant on Friday, Oct. 29, police said.
Jureczko is set to appear in court on Thursday, Nov. 18.
